HiFi Mojo: Bio

The Hifi Mojo Band

Marty Henninger - Drums, Lead Singer, Songwriter…Hifi Mojo his baby, his quest. Marty began playing drums in 1967. He began singing in 1969 when the lead singer in his first band got tossed from the high school dance they were supposed to play that night. Guess what? All he knew were blues songs.

After working as a sideman in dozens of bands over the years, in 2001, Marty decided to strike out on his own. He played several years with Portland blues guitar legend Jim Mesi, and Jim's good friends, harp player extraordinaire Paul Delay and keyboardist D.K.Stewart, as well as Bill Rhodes, Terry Robb, Curtis Salgado, Lisa Mann, Kevin Selfe, and Franco Paletta.

With old friend, bassist Jim Miller, he formed the 2002 Cascade Blues Association’s Muddy award-winning band the Cannonballs with David Vest and Lloyd Allen.

Marty has played with country star Collin Raye and was invited to join his road band in 1990. He's  also played with country legend Hank Thompson as well as Ferlin Husky and Freddie Hart. He was drummer and vocalist in jazz singer Rebecca Kilgore’s retro country band Beck-A-Roo and indie-darlings Elisabeth Ames and the Countrypolitans. He loves all music, but for Marty, the blues is what it all comes down to.
